Lisa Komuro

"I feel as if we all live in a world that is out of touch with what is truly important in life. Family, love, happiness, beauty and life itself are all distorted by our digital, wireless society. We live in a place where we will never have enough. Our society can recognize more corporate logos than plant species. One out of every four people in North America can be diagnosed with a mental disorder and we are the only ones to have problems with both obesity and eating disorders.

Media controls our knowledge, thoughts, beliefs, ideas and habits. We spend more money on fast food than higher education and most of us are working jobs that fulfill the dreams of others and not our own. Everything seems backwards and I feel the need to change and consume less.

Art is the reason I can smile through all of this. It is my chance to voice my frustrations and express my thoughts, hopes and dreams. It's how I reconnect and find balance."
With a style all her own, Lisa creates deep, passionate works of art  that are peaceful and intriguing. Each beautiful piece has a message. She uses a multitude of mediums ranging from acrylics to pattern paper. The end product is full of depth, both mentally and physically. You can't help but feel a connection to the Japanese culture - that stems from her roots - while looking at each piece.
