"My photography expresses relationships. Whether the image is one of a delicate landscape or personality portrait, I look for the relationship, the connection between the primary point of focus and the secondary. Concepts such as vitality, joy and serenity are consistent themes in my work."
From personality portraits and advertising campaigns to magazine layouts and fine art work, Leanna has developed a distinctive and unique style in her profession. As a contributing photographer for stock agencies Getty Images, First Light, and through her own company, Travelling Light Photography, Leanna's photography has been purchased worldwide. She has also provided imagery for The Canadian Tourism Commission, Tourism BC and Tourism Whistler, Whistler-Blackcomb, and contributed to many North American magazines, including National Geographic, Canadian Geographic, British Columbia Magazine, and Popular Photography magazine.
At 19 Leanna began working as an assistant to a wedding photographer in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta, followed by a year-long stint as a portrait photographer with the Bay Portrait Studios. Her love for outdoor sports and a young man brought her to Whistler, where she was a photojournalist for the Whistler Question newspaper for four years. With the birth of her son, Leanna started her own company, Travelling Light Photography, and created a stock image library for Tourism Whistler as her first project. Since then, she has created portraits of many of Whistler’s business people, photographed hundreds of weddings, and contributed lifestyle and Whistler imagery for magazine articles about the resort. She lives in the mountain village of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada with her husband and their two teenage children.
