Whistler Art Cards
Proceeds from the sale of Whistler Art Cards created by local artists in celebration of our 25th Anniversary support the Whistler Arts Council’s programs.
In celebration of the Whistler Arts Council’s 25th Anniversary, these four Sea-to-Sky artists were selected to showcase their work though the Whistler Art Cards. Proceeds from the sale of the cards support Whistler Arts Council programs, such as the Whistler Children’s Art Festival, ARTrageous, ArtWalk, Bizarre Bazaar, Out of Bounds, Whistler Art Workshops on the Lake and WHISTLER CELEBRATION 2010™.The four pieces of work were created by local artists Andrew Smith, Bea Gonzalez, Josee St Amour and Vanessa Stark.

Singing Pass Trail by Andrew Smith Andrew Smith has been painting in Whistler since 1994. While hiking, biking or skiing, he is constantly inspired by the magnificent landscapes, lighting and seasonal changes in the mountains. His works are mainly acrylic on canvas and depict the natural beauty of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. When he is not painting or designing websites he shoots photography and video, and thoroughly enjoys life with his wife and cat on the West Coast. This painting entitled Singing Pass Trail captures a small pond’s reflection while on a hike to Russet Lake. www.somenice.com

Whistler in the Mist by Bea Gonzalez Bea was born in Spain, grew up in Toronto and came to Whistler for an afternoon drive in 1986. She has never left, and now has a wonderful husband and two children. Bea started painting in 2001 with local artist, Lyle MacDonald, who taught her watercolour, composition and design. Bea has taken continuing education classes at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and through the Federation of Canadian Artists. She sees beauty in trees, rocks, old fences, clouds… This painting was inspired from a photo she took on Whistler Mountain. beagon@telus.net

Cabin 'It by Josee St Amour In search of higher mountains and perfect waves, Josee’s journeys have taken her around the world. Many childhood hours were spent experiencing everything artistic, be it fashion, industrial and interior design, murals, sculptures, drawing, collage or painting. Her 2005 attendance at the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design strengthened her resolve as an artist. She is inspired by the most beautiful, enriching Mother of all Mothers - Mother Earth. Spring Shine by Vanessa Stark Whistler/Pemberton artist Vanessa Stark moved to Whistler in the Spring of 1992. She has now spent more than half her life playing in the hills in the area. Vanessa balances her time between mountain sports and painting. As a self taught artist Nes’ colourful paintings reflect her mountain lifestyle and lucid dreams. www.nestark.com

| Prominent local artist Isobel MacLaurin was commissioned to produce a painting that represented Whistler's history in celebration of the Whistler Arts Council's 25th anniversary. These posters are now on sale for $10 and can be ordered by calling 604-935-8232. A limited number of framed copies of the poster are also available for $100 each. |
