Since its inception over 25 years ago, the Whistler Arts Council has been joined by several other community arts organizations. Together, they now comprise Whistler's cultural sector which is estimated to have collective annual operating budgets of close to $5 million.

Designated by the Resort Municipality of Whistler as the community's "umbrella arts organization" in the 2001 Whistler Arts Plan, WAC plays a significant leadership role in arts advocacy and community cultural development. In addition to offering its own events and programs, WAC is committed to "building and integrating arts into the fabric of the (broader) Whistler community".
