WAC Constitution & Bylaws
WAC Constitution & By-laws
The Whistler Arts Council will recommend changes to the Constitution & By-laws at the June 2, 2010 Annual General Meeting to include operating Maurice Young Millennium Place. WAC and the Millennium Place Society will merge into one Society under the Whistler Arts Council with WAC taking on the operations of MY Place in addition to the current programs and services it already offers.
The Directors of both MY Place and WAC have been meeting for over 12 months to ensure a smooth transition as the two societies merge on June 1st 2010. WAC has also engaged legal counsel to ensure that operating MY Place becomes an integral part of the WAC Constitution and By-laws.
Therefore, WAC will present members with revisions to the current Constitution and By-laws. One of the key changes is to include the operations of MY Place within WAC’s operations (Provide, administer and maintain Maurice Young Millennium Place and other multi-use public facilities for the community of the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the surrounding areas). Another addition to the revised by-laws is to appoint a former director of MY Place to the WAC board until 2013 to ensure there is representation on the board from the MYMP Society. Other changes to the By-laws are minimal and mainly to update grammar and ensure alignment with any new regulations of Revenue Canada Charities Directorate.
If you have any questions about changes to the Constitution and by-laws that will be presented to the members for adoption at the June 2nd 2010 AGM, please contact Doti Niedermayer, Executive Director or Joan Richoz, Board Chair at 604 935 8232.
